Throughout KS1 and KS2 we have started to use a new program called Freckle. Freckle, which comes from the same company as Accelerated Reader, is our exciting new maths practice program which allows children to consolidate their learning of arithmetic. All children have completed a STAR maths assessment in school and this sets up a unique, individualised program for children to follow in order for them to make more progress in maths. It enables children to catch up with any previous learning they have missed, or correct any misconceptions. It also extends the most able and allows every child to be challenged at their own level. Teachers shall be using this in school to assist with targeted learning, and for online homework from now on.
To login pupils will go to student.freckle.com where they will need to enter their class code and name. These should have been given out, but should you be unsure of the class code please get in contact with your child's class teacher. When logged in, pupils will get personalised maths questions to suit them and their learning, they can set themselves personal targets, and will have access to a shop to personalise their avatars when they answer a prerequisite number of questions.
All learning is adaptive, personal and designed to work alongside our school approach to mathematics mastery. We are confident in the impact this will have on our maths provision here at Smarden, and look forward to seeing pupils engaging as part of their homework.
