Enjoying, Learning and Achieving Together

Yr 3/4 - Sassoon

Mr Bedford-Cooper and Mrs Sorrell welcome you to Sassoon Class!

We begin the term looking at a new topic ‘The Victorians.’ Another historical topic that shall explore how life changed drastically for Britain over this period, how invention and technology has changed our world and the impact of the Victorians on our current lives. Our key question for the term is, “What did the Victorians do for us?”

We shall explore Berlie Doherty’s book Street Child in literacy, a novel based on a real child who helped inspire Dr Barnardo to start working with the poor. We shall use it to analyse and explore Britain and it poor in the 18th Century. To go alongside this we shall explore animals including humans in science, focusing primarily on digestion and teeth. Maths shall at time primarily, but shall look at recapping other areas of learning and continuing with our times table focus.

Spanish shall by our language to study and Art & DT shall be looking at the work of William Morris. We are lucky enough for our violin concert to be finally here! Please come if you can on 6th June.

In Sassoon Class we always endeavour to make learning as interactive and dynamic as possible as I firmly believe that enjoyable learning is good learning. Furthermore, we shall always aim to challenge ourselves, as part of our growth mindset, in order to fully stretch our brains and grow our own learning power in order to become ‘the best me that I can be’. We pride ourselves on our inclusiveness, attitude to learning and our friendly classroom atmosphere.

Furthermore, we aim to open and transparent both with our learning and teaching so if there are any further questions, please feel free to contact myself or Mrs Sorrell either in person, through the school or, if a parent, through classdojo.
