Mr Bedford-Cooper and Mrs Sorrell welcome you to Sassoon Class!
A warm welcome back to you all! Another fantastic and exciting year lies ahead of us full of learning, challenge and exploration.
We begin the year looking at ‘Robot Wars!’ Indeed, our key question for the term is, “Man vs Machine – Are Robots the Future?”
We shall explore Ted Hughes’ book The Iron Man in literacy, using it to analyse and really delve into our machinery based topic. To go alongside this we shall explore electricity in science to delve into what makes robots really work, looking at its dangers, circuits and switches. Geography shall track the movements of The Iron Man around the world by looking at maps and atlases, including grid references to 4 & 6-figures. Maths shall look at place value predominantly this term before moving on to some addition and subtraction later on.
Spanish shall by our language to study and Art & DT shall be looking at the work of Leonardo Da Vinci, including his mechanical designs and sketches before making our own junk model robots.
In Sassoon Class we always endeavour to make learning as interactive and dynamic as possible as I firmly believe that enjoyable learning is good learning. Furthermore, we shall always aim to challenge ourselves, as part of our growth mindset, in order to fully stretch our brains and grow our own learning power in order to become ‘the best me that I can be’. We pride ourselves on our inclusiveness, attitude to learning and our friendly classroom atmosphere.
Furthermore, we aim to open and transparent both with our learning and teaching so if there are any further questions, please feel free to contact myself or Mrs Sorrell either in person, through the school or, if a parent, through classdojo.
