Mr Bedford-Cooper and Ms Bloomsmar welcome you to Kestrels Class!
As we continue through our Winter Term we start our new topic – Ancient Greece. A topic as broad and interesting as this shall be explored through all areas of the curriculum to encourage children to delve into one of the world’s most fascinating and interesting civilisations.
In Literacy we start with a couple of the myths and legends of Ancient Greece – the Legend of Icarus and Theseus and the Minotaur. Using these, we shall be making our own style of Myth or Legend using Greek monsters from legend. Moreover, we shall examine other stories from Greece before moving on to instruction and report writing to link in with our science topic for the term – scientific enquiry. This shall consist of a variety of different experiments designed to encourage pupils to think about the scientific process of experimentation, prediction, recording and presenting findings.
In RE we shall be examining the People of God, art & DT shall consist of clay modelling, PSHE shall look into stereotyping and music shall continue with ukulele.
In Kestrels Class we always endeavour to make learning as interactive and dynamic as possible as I firmly believe that enjoyable learning is good learning. Furthermore, we shall always aim to challenge ourselves, as part of our growth mindset, in order to fully stretch our brains and grow our own learning power in order to become ‘the best me that I can be’. We pride ourselves on our inclusiveness, attitude to learning and our friendly classroom atmosphere.
Furthermore, we aim to be open and transparent, both with our learning and teaching so if there are any further questions, please feel free to contact myself or Ms Bloomsmar either in person, through the school or, if a parent, through Classdojo.
