Yr 3 & 4 Term 5/6 2016/2017
Following two weeks of newspaper reporting where Years 3 and 4 read and dissected newspapers and then produced their own newspaper articles, we then spent a further two weeks using composition and writing skills to write formal and informal letters.
Our formal letter was to be a letter to The Queen, sending our birthday greetings and asking questions about Trooping the Colour. We had read about Trooping the Colour in the newspapers and decided it would be a wonderful opportunity to write to The Queen. Everyone worked really hard, with their editing skills being used for revisions ( too many to count) as we needed to have everything absolutely perfect.
Once the final drafts were completed the children then wrote their letters on special royal paper and we set off to the post office with excitement and anticipation.
This week our hopes were fulfilled, as we received a letter back from Buckingham Palace. We opened the letter together and celebrated our achievements and remembered how hard we had all worked during those two weeks of intense letter writing.
We were all proud of our determination and perseverance in completing the task and our acknowledgement by the palace.
Well done Kestrels Class.
